A collection of Scandinavian people -- prolific travelers and warriors known for raiding villages between the 9th and 11th century. With the help of longships with sails, the Norsemen conquered parts of Ireland, England, France, Russia and America.
The Minnesota Vikings are one of the 32 teams in the National Football League. Based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Vikings were founded in 1961 and are currently in the North Division of the National Football Conference (NFC).
Britain’s famed society of re-enactors faithfully recreates the Viking way of life. Since 1971, the group has sought to bring life to European history by donning traditional garb for staged battles and presentations.
The Vikings, were the class of rocket designed to replace the V-2 rocket. The first American-made rocket to leave the atmosphere in 1949 was utilized by the Naval Research Laboratory to test different methods of propulsion and control and the possibility of use as a long-range missile.
The Viking 1 and 2 were two spacecraft launched in 1975 on missions to explore Mars. Viking 1 snapped the famous photo, “Face on Mars,” which some believe to be evidence of life on Mars.
